  [S927] Obituary. Horber Funeral Chapel Obituary Robert Samuel Branson was born on March 3, 1933 in Syracuse, Kansas to CW (Chiff) and Helen Gibson Branson. He passed away on Thursday December 28, 2017 in Las Animas, Colorado. A true son of a local pioneer family, he grew up on the W Leanin Bar Lazy V ranch, home for generations of the Williams' and Bransons. He played iron man football for Las Animas High School, played cornet in the marching band, and was a local college champion in wrestling. He was a member of the Armed Forces, serving with the US Army in Germany post war. He was a rated sharpshooter in the Army. Bob was ordained as a minister at Howard Payne University in Texas, then pastored churches in Texas, Alaska, North Dakota, and Colorado. He was an Instrument Rated pilot, a flight instructor, and was a Captain and the Chaplain for Civil Air Patrol squadron Lamar, CO. He was a member of the National Guard. He was an Army reservist, a veteran by virtue of multiple service activities. Bob Branson is survived by his wife, Marian (Neuharth) Branson; four daughters from a previous marriage, Beverly Branson, Shiela Branson, Deronda (Jeff) O?Neill, and Mary (Brian) Kittelson; fourteen grandchildren, and eighteen great grandchildren; sisters, Margaret Branson Turner and Marilyn Branson Morrow; as well as many other relatives and a host of friends He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Stanley Branson and Bill Branson. He leaves a lifetime legacy of patriotism, service to God and his community, and many activities among the youth of his local schools, neighbors, churches, and communities. He authored a book for his grandchildren - "Homemade Prairie Fun," and a second story of faith and sportsmanship, "Silver Wings."
