Robert (Bob) Neuharth passed away peacefully on March 7, 2020 at Trinity Nursing Home in Minot, ND at the age of 95. He lived a long life with most of it in his hometown of McClusky.
Funeral services will be at the McClusky Baptist Church, McClusky, ND on Saturday, March 14 at 11 a.m.
Visitation will be at Hertz Funeral Home, McClusky on Friday, March 13 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Burial will be in the McClusky City Cemetery.
Robert was born on May 19, 1924 to Albert J. and Marie (Bender) Neuharth on a farm north of McClusky, the fifth of thirteen children. He attended and graduated from McClusky High School as valedictorian and worked for John Hanson Trucking. He was drafted into the Army in 1944 and served in the Pacific Theatre during WW II, earning a Purple Heart. After the war he returned to McClusky and was elected Sheridan County Auditor in 1949, holding this position until 1990 (41 years and the longest serving Sheridan County official to date). He married Irene Bonnet on June 30, 1949 in McClusky with whom he had three children.
Robert also served twelve years as city auditor, the McClusky Volunteer Fire Department for thirty-five years, and the American Legion, Post #124, where he was a flag bearer in the color guard for fifty-eight years. Robert and Irene also attended the McClusky Baptist Church. They lived in McClusky in their own home and the city apartments, until moving to assisted living in Minot in 2014. Irene died on February 4, 2015 and Robert moved to Trinity Nursing Home in 2016. Robert passed away peacefully on March 7, 2020 at Trinity Nursing Home in Minot, ND at the age of 95.
Robert is survived by his three children, Roberta (Charles) Netzloff of McClusky, Kevin (Cindy) Neuharth of Minot, and Cynthia (Lowell) Nelson of Grand Forks; four grandchildren, Heather Netzloff, Michael Netzloff, Jared (Beth) Neuharth, and Cassandra (Ben) Edwards; three great-grandchildren, Leightyn, Jack, and Emilie; three siblings, Mathilda ?Tee? Holcomb of Great Falls, MT, Alvin (Eunice) Neuharth of Bismarck, and Evelyn (Carl) Peter of Valley City; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Robert was preceded in death by his wife, Irene; parents; nine siblings, Edwin, Helen Wahl, Clara Feickert, Emil "Ted", Herbert, Gladys, Edna, Marian Branson, and Elmer "Bud."
