Viola E. Kinney, 94, of Monroe County Care Center died at 3:15 p.m., Tuesday (Oct. 13, 1998) at the center.
She was born Sept. 17, 1904 near Stafford to Herman and Nellie Willison McElfresh. She was a graduate of Woodsfield High School, Woodsfield Normal School and Muskingum College in New Concord. She was a retiered school teacher, having taught in various schools throughout Monroe County for 30 years.
She was a member of the Graysville Church of Christ at Graysville, Eastern Ohio Teachers Association and Monroe County Retired Teachers Association. She was a 50 year member of Graysville Grange at Graysville.
She is survived by two daughters, Blanche Baker and her husband Charles, of Woodsfield and Zelda Clark of Woodsfield; four sons, Harold Kinney, Jr. and his wife, Velma, of Woodsfield, Floyd W. Kinney and his wife, Janet, of Massillon, Vernon Kinney and his wife, Rozetta, of Woodsfield and Leland Kinney and his wife, Jerry, of Woodsfield; two sisters, Opal Leasure of Coshocton and Ruby Mallett of Mingo Junction; three brothers, Floyd McElfresh of Sycamore Valley, Earl McElfresh of West Lafayette and Walter McElfresh of West Lafayette; 23 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold B. Kinney, Sr. on Sept.25, 1990; one son, Forrest L. Kinney; her parents; one sister, Pearl Green; one brother, Glen McElfresh; and seven grandchildren.
Services are at 1 p.m. Friday at Watters Funeral Home, Woodsfield, with Evangelist Claude Davis and Harry Sommers officiating. Burial is in Graysville Church of Christ cemetery at Graysville. Friends will be received at the funeral home from 2 to 9 p.m. Thursday.
Graysville Grange will conduct services at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
