Strauss, a resident of Crofton since 1970, died of pneumonia Sept. 11 at the Crofton Convalescent Center. He was 90. Born in Chicago, on Aug. 17, 1915, Mr. Strauss retired as comptroller from Stewart Warner Corp. in Chicago after 40 years of service. He was a member of Prince of Peace Presbyterian Church in Crofton and was a member and past president of the Crofton Association of Retired Persons. He was a dog lover who enjoyed sailing, boating and gardening. His wife, Janet Eileen Strauss, died Oct. 22, 2003. The couple was married in 1937. He was the father of the late Philip Frederick Strauss. Surviving are one son, Richard B. Strauss of McFarland, Wis.; two daughters, Barbara Faye Boell of Bowie and Kathy Lynne Spayed of Crofton; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Sunday at Prince of Peace Presbyterian Church, 1657 Crofton Parkway. Inurnment will be private. Arrangements are by Hardesty Funeral Home in Gambrills.
