Kremer of Bismarck, formerly of Linton, were honored at a 50th wedding anniversry reception held on Sunday, Nov. 25, at the First Evangelical United Brethren Church in Bismarck. About 150 friends and relatives attended. A program was presented with Mrs. Robert (Esther) Larson, a daughter, playing a wedding medley. Rev. Walter Erdmann of Bismarck extended greetings and introduced the master of ceremonies, Robert Chesrown. "Prayer Perfect" was sung by the adult members of the family, followed by a reading, "50 Year Honeymoon," by Bonnie Chesrown, one of the grandchildren. "Always" was sung by son-in-law Burton C. Olson. Mrs. Gottlieb Kremer read the history of the honored couple. Corliss Nelson, Bismarck, sang a special Anniversary Song. Mrs. Kremer spoke a few heart-warming words of appreciation. Sandra Chesrown played a piano solo, "Home Sweet Home." Mr. Kremer espressed his thanks. The grandchildren presented a special number written especially for the occasion by a daughter, Mrs. Alan (LaVonne) Kelling Rev. Sterling Wenzel of Linton gave the closing remarks and Rev. C. F. Strutz, Bismarck , presented an original poem, "End of a Perfect Day," sung by the adult family members, concluded the program. Refreshments were served from a beautifully decorated table and included fancy sandwiches, holiday cookies, fruitcake, punch, coffee, nuts and mints. The Kremers were married in Linton on Nov. 6, 1912, in the home of her parents, the John Sautters. The late Rev. A. Ermel officiated. They moved to Bismarck in October of this year. Mr. Kremer was born in South Russia on Nov. 6, 1887 and came to the United States with his parents as an infant. The Kremer family lived in the Venturia area until 1907 when Jake began work in Linton at the Linton Bazaar, owned by Atha, Junge and Backhaus. Later he worked at the Petrie Store and then for his father-in-law, John Sautter, who had purchased the Joe Eberle store. Shortly thereafter, Mr. Sautter left the business and a brother, Valentine Kremer, joined Jake in the store. This was a grocery and general store and at one time was also the John Deere agency and later an agency for Chevrolet cars. The store in later years specialized in hardware and furniture. Mrs. Kremer is the former Bertha Sautter and was born at Eureka, South Dakota, on Dec. 18, 1894. She lived in the Artas and Herreid area until 1908 with the exception of two years the Sautter family spent in Washington State. The Sautters moved to Linton in 1908 and purchased the house now owned by the Ray Juholas. Here they ran a rooming house for many years and Mr. Sautter also operated a livery stable located where the Linton Creamery is now. The Kremers have six children, all of whom were present for the anniversary celebration, including their families. They are Mrs. R. L. (Esther) Larson of Billings, Montana; Mrs. Robert (Frances) Chesrown, Linton; Dr. Leslie A. Kremer, Seattle, Washington; Mrs. B. C. (Aletta) Olson, Cody, Wyoming; Mrs. Alan (LaVonne) Kelling, Wauwatosa, Wisconsin; Mrs. Herbert (Donna) Rickert, Farmington, Michigan. Chesrown, 88, Colorado Springs, Colo., formerly of Linton, North Dak. and Sun City, Ariz., died April 28, 2003, in Colorado Springs, Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at United Methodist Church, Linton, with the Rev. Warren Wenzel officiating. Burial will be in the Chesrown family plot in the Linton Cemetery.Visitation will be held from 9 am to 9 pm. today and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday, all at the Myers Funeral Home, Linton. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the services at the church.Frances, (Fran) was born March 30, 1915, in Linton, the daughter of Jacob J. Kremer, an immigrant from Kassel, Germany, via Ukraine and Bertha Sautter Kremer, South Dakota. Fran attended grade school in Linton, and graduated in 1933 from Linton High School where she was active in school plays and music. She then completed a year of study at Dakota Business College in Fargo.For many years, Fran worked for her father at the J.J. Kremer Furniture and Hardware Stores in Linton. In the early 1940?s she moved to Menasha, Wis., where she was a hostess at the Menasha Hotel for the Sahli Brothers, John and Peter. Fran loved to talk with people and sing, and one of the highlights of her youth was singing with the Lawrence Welk Orchestra during one of their visits to Strasburg. On Dec. 17, 1946, Fran married Robert Chesrown, who had recently returned from Europe and World War II. They lived in Linton where Robert practiced law and politics as a state senator, and Fran was a housewife and a mother. Fran was active in the Florene Crittenden Charity, the American Legion Auxiliary, and the Republic Legislative Wives organization, for which she published a cookbook. She was also an avid bridge player in local clubs. The Chesrowns sold their house on Highway 83, and moved to Sun City, in 1982. Senator Chesrown died in 1988. Fran loved to travel, and in the early 1990?s, she visited Europe and Australia. In May 2001, she moved to Colorado Springs, where she lived at Alterra Memory Loss Center and Life Quality Homes. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Bonnie Haukness and Robert Haukness, Reston, Va.; her daughter and son-in-law, Sandi Chesrown and Wael Sherman, Colorado Springs; her grand daughter, Dr. Heather Haukness and her husband Dr. Dave Bentrem; her great granddaughter, Hannah Lorelei Bentrem, Chicago; and her granddaughter, Lorelei Haukness, Middlebury, Vt.; and four sisters and their families; one sister-in-law; and one brother-in-law, Mrs. Esther Larson, Fresno, Calif., Mrs. La Vonne Kelling, Adell, Wis., Mrs. Donna Rickert, Farmington Hills, Mich., Mrs. Jean Kremer, West Sun City, Ariz., and Russell Chesrown, Kankakee, Ill. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and her brother Dr. Leslie Kremer, Seattle In farewell to Frances our devoted mother, "The Lord bless you and keep you, the Lord make his face to shine upon you and be gracious to you; the Lord lift up his countenance on your and give you peace."
