Zeeland, N.D. - The funeral for Isadore A. Meidinger, 86, Zeeland, N.D., will be held Monday, Dec. 4, 2006, at 10:30 a.m. at the United Church of Christ in Wishek, N.D. Visitation will be held Sunday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. with a prayer service at 4 p.m. at Dahlstrom Funeral Home in Wishek, N.D. Burial will be at the New Kassel E & R Cemetery, rural Zeeland, N.D. Isadore Adam Meidinger was born on Aug. 25, 1920, the eighth child of John R. and Lydia (Meidinger) Meidinger rural McIntosh County near Zeeland, N.D. Isadore attended grade school in rural McIntosh County and Ashley High School. He was united in marriage to Viola Dorothea Just on his 26th birthday, Aug. 25, 1946, at St. Andrew's Lutheran Church, rural Zeeland, N.D. Isadore and Viola were members of the New Kassel Reformed Church, rural Zeeland, where he was church treasurer for many years until they merged with the United Church of Christ in Wishek, N.D. On Nov. 1, 1991, after 45 years of marriage, Viola passed away at the Wishek Nursing Home from a 7-year battle with ALS; she was 63. The name Isadore means farmer and he was correctly named! Isadore loved everything about farming, especially driving John Deere machinery; he cherished his cattle and took pride in his corn crops. When he retired from farming at 74 years old, his hobby was operating machinery for his son Kenny. He always said "Nothing smells better than freshly turned dirt!" He helped combine Kenny's crop for the last time when he was 82 years old. Isadore had a quick, witty sense of humor and took great pleasure in giving his caretakers at the Wishek Nursing Home a hard time! Isadore cherished his 10 grandchildren. He spent every chance he got taking them to the Medora Musical, Threshing Bees and teaching them numerous card games. Isadore died Thursday, Nov. 30, 2006, at The Wishek Home for the Aged in Wishek, N.D. He was 86 years old. Isadore is survived by three sons, Myron (Eunice) Meidinger and Jerry (Shelley) Meidinger, both of Bismarck, N.D., Kenny (Susan) Meidinger, Zeeland, N.D.; two daughters, Shirley (Ray) Olson, Everett, Wash., Mary Ann (Jan) Frohlich, Mandan, N.D.; 10 grandchildren, Sheldon and Krista Meidinger, Bismarck, N.D., Shannon Meidinger, Bismarck, N.D., Stephanie and Jeremy Higgins, Redding, Calif., Jessica and Justin Thomas, Bismarck, N.D., Adam Meidinger, Zeeland, N.D., Sarah Meidinger, Bismarck, N.D., Andy, Simon and Carter Meidinger, Bismarck, N.D., Anna Frohlich, Mandan, N.D.; two great-grandchildren, Ben Hildestad, Bismarck, N.D., and Dylan Higgins, Redding, Calif.; a very special friend and traveling companion, Esther Klipfel, Ashley, N.D.; two brothers Otto (Alice) Meidinger and Art (Violet) Meidinger both of Zeeland, N.D.; one sister, Meda (Harold) Heupel, Eureka, S.D.; one sister-in-law, Esther Meidinger, Ellendale, N.D. He was preceded in death by his wife Viola; parents, John and Lydia; five sisters, Othelia Ketterling, Adeline Brandner Kettering, Eva Kettering, Frieda Bender, Loretta Newcomer; two brothers, Rueben Meidinger and Aaron Meidinger. EELAND - Isadore A. Meidinger, 86, Zeeland, died Nov. 30, 2006, at the Wishek Home for the Aged, Wishek. He was 86 years old. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 4, at the United Church of Christ, Wishek. Burial will be at the New Kassel E and R Cemetery, rural Zeeland.
