She was born on December 19, 1939 to Herbert and Ottille (Bertsch) Bender in Menno, South Dakota. Viola was a florist and worked for Ridgeview Florist and Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home for over 20 years. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister. Viola is survived by her daughter, Angela York of McKinney, Texas, sons, Jimmy York and wife, Lana of Eustace, Texas and Mark York of Eustace, Texas; grandchildren, Stephanie Feagins and husband, Roy of Palestine, Texas, DeAnna York of Athens, Texas, James York, Jr. of Eustace, Texas; great-grandchildren, Kayden, Kobe, Ashtyn, Anna and Bella; brothers, Leon Bender and wife, Laura of Gillette, Wyoming, Charles York and wife, Sandra of Winter, South Dakota, Robert York and wife, Joy of Watertown, South Dakota and Johnny York of Palmer, Alaska; sisters, Donna Reiser and husband, Doug of O’Fallon, Missouri, Patricia Hohbach and husband, Dan of Mitchell, South Dakota, Fern Richey and husband, Gary of Denton, Texas and Mavis Craig and husband, Mike of Tea, South Dakota; ex-husband, Garth York of Garland, Texas; and numerous other loving family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Herbert Bender and Ottille Bender York; brother, Roland Bender; sister, Margie Lippert; and sister-in-law, Pat Bender. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, March 17, 2018 at Sand Springs Baptist Church, 1212 FM 1616, Athens, Texas 75751 with Pastor Erick Graham officiating. Interment will follow at Cottonwood Cemetery, 8218 FM 2709, Eustace, Texas 75124. The family will receive friends during a visitation on Friday evening from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas 75013.
