Debert Keller funeral services will be held at 10:30am, Saturday, May 27, 2006 at St. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Strasburg with the Rev. Leonard Eckroth officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Debert was born June 24, 1920, on a farm northeast of Strasburg, ND, the son of Frank and Helen (Schneider) Keller. He attended country school, graduating from high school in 1941.
Debert served in the Civilian Conservation Corp. and also taught country school.
Debert married Alice Welk on July 3, 1945 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Krassna, ND. Following their marriage, they lived and farmed NE of Strasburg where they also raised ten children.
He was a member of the Strasburg Knights of Columbus and served on the Emmons County Social Service Board. He enjoyed various sporting events, especially football. He also enjoyed playing cards, with pinochle being his favorite.
Debert will always be remembered for his love of family, strong faith and his believing that education was of the utmost importance which was evident by providing all his children with a Catholic education and college degrees.
Grateful to have shared his life are his wife: Alice, Strasburg, ND; six sons and three daughters-in-law: Jerry & Carolyn Keller of Horace, ND, Richard Keller of Bismarck, ND, Ken & Marion Keller of Chicago, IL, Bill Keller (deceased), Allen Keller of Phoenix, AZ and Kevin & Jackie Keller of Littleton, CO; four daughters and three sons-in-law: Jane & John Young of Bakersfield, CA, Judy & Tom Fryslie of Center, ND, Sue & Howard Sage of Bismarck, ND and Laura Keller of Phoenix, AZ; thirteen grandchildren, three great grandchildren; two brothers and one sister-in-law: Dr. Edward F. & Shirley Keller of Bismarck, ND and Bill Keller of Bismarck, ND; two sisters and two brothers-in-law: Mary & Al Mattern of Bismarck, ND and Eleanor & Francis Maloney of Appleton, WI.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Bill, one brother Frank and one sister, Wilma Hagel.
