Ernest J. Scholl, 88, of Mechanicsburg died Friday, Oct. 29, 2004, in Holy Spirit Hospital.
Born in Hoboken, N.J., on Sept. 14, 1916, he was a son of the late Joseph and Mathilda (Bruen) Scholl.
Mr. Scholl was retired from the Defense Depot in Mechanicsburg and Members First Credit Union.
He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of World War II and a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Mechanicsburg, where he was a member of the choir for many years. He was a life member of VFW Post 6704, American Legion Post 109, The Good Sam Club and an honorary member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees, Chapter 1465.
Mr. Scholl also was a member of the Mechanicsburg Club and the Buttonwood Association.
He recently was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Mary C. Scholl.
Surviving are one daughter, Patricia Williams of Harrisburg; one son, Edwin Scholl of Mechanicsburg; one brother Robert Scholl of Wall, N.J., and seven grandchildren.
Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday in his church with the Rev. Chester P. Snyder as celebrant. Burial with military honors will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
There will be a viewing from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Malpezzi Funeral Home, 8 Market Plaza Way, Mechanicsburg.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Joseph Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 2012, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055.
