- Edna Mae Peters, age 79, took the hand of the Lord on June 29 and passed away quickly from her home at Traditions on Bath Rd., where she was loved and cared for by a wonderful staff.
Edna was born October 11, 1932 in Akron and was the daughter of the late Mary Teresa (Browning) and Joseph Rollo Mattingly. She was the youngest of nine children and a loving mother of seven. Edna worked at Akron General Medical Center and Revlon Co. in Phoenix, Ariz. She liked to travel and was a caring and extraordinarily fun person. She was deeply loved by everyone she touched and will be missed by all.
Edna was preceded in death by son, Joseph Robert Peters; sons-in-law, Boyd Stutler and Jim Hagen; sisters, Dorothy and Betty Jane Mattingly, Mary Jean Coughlin, Bernice Ahern; and brothers, William and Reuben Mattingly. She is survived by daughters, Kathy (Rick) Bigham, Cindy (Gary Clair) Stutler and Debbie Hagen; sons, Tom, Carl (Terrie) and Bill (Laurie) Peters, 17 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren; sisters, Anna Ruth Vandiver and Doris Irene Reischman.
A memorial service will be held at Edgewood park, 1170 Liberty Ave., Barberton, Ohio on July 22 at 1 p.m. followed by Edna's Celebration of Life. She will be laid to rest at Holy Cross Cemetery on July 23 at 11 a.m. with services by Father Jim Singler of Immaculate Heart of Mary.
