Reid Douglas Perrett Sr.
TITUSVILLE ? Reid Douglas Perrett Sr., 84, of 17659 Bugtown Road, Titusville, died at 6:17 a.m. Saturday, March 21, 2009, at UPMC Northwest.He was born Aug. 18, 1924, in Oil City to the late John Henry and Katherine Douglas Perrett. He married Barbara (Bobbie) Watters Perrett on Oct. 3, 1986, in Pittsburgh.Reid attended Cranberry High SchoolHe was employed by GTE in the voice communications department for 43 years. He retired in 1989.He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army from 1942 to 1945. During that time he fought in battles and campaigns in the Pacific Theater and was awarded three Bronze Stars. He was honorably discharged with the rank of corporal.Reid belonged to IBEW (International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers) where he also served as a union steward. He was a member of Telephone Pioneers and was a past president of the Titusville Aero Club. He was a Democratic committee man for Oil Creek Township, Venango County, and a lifetime member of the Bruce Shorts Post 5958 Veterans of Foreign Wars.He loved spending time with his family. He was a pilot since 1989. He was also an avid fly fisherman, enjoyed reading, traveling, and shared his wife Bobbie's interest in genealogy. He will be missed by his animal friends.Reid is survived by his wife; four children, Douglas Perrett and wife, Linda, of Columbus, Ohio, Stanley Perrett and wife, Linda, of Saegertown, Steven Perrett and his companion, Barb Sterner, of Polk, and Sharon Perrett Rogers of Savannah, Ga.; a daughter-in-law, Lavonne Pompilio and her husband, Phil, of Pleasantville; three grandsons, Lonnie Perrett of Titusville, Barry Perrett and his wife, Kelly, of Saegertown, and Jody Perrett and his wife, Naseem, of Mine Hill, N.J.; five great-grandchildren, Jacob Perrett, Tyra McGarvie, Rayden Perrett, Magda Perrett and Suraiya Perrett; and numerous nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his first wife, Virginia Irwin Perrett, who was the mother of their five children; his second wife, Margie Hill Perrett; one son, Larry Perrett; four brothers, Homer, Clifford, Richard and Eugene Perrett; and three sisters, Dorothy Donahue, Opal Thomas and Beulah Masters.Friends may call at Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home, 303 N. Washington St., Titusville, Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and attend the funeral at the funeral home on Wednesday at 11 a.m.Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery, Pleasantville, with full military rites observed.Memorial contributions may be made to the Titusville Aero Club, 2572 Meadville Road, Titusville, Pa. 16354.
