Thelma J. Speck Nichols, 85
Thelma J. Speck Nichols age 85 of Xenia, formerly of West Portsmouth went to be with the Lord Monday, January 9, 2012. She was born April 1, 1926, a daughter of the late Harry and Hazel Speck. A graduate of Brush Creek Township High School. Thelma married Vaughn F. Nichols and together they had 5 children. She was a member of the 1st Church of the Nazarene in Xenia where she worked for many years in the daycare and school. In addition to her parents and her husband Vaughn, she is preceded in death by her daughters: Marsha Nichols Hill, and Sharon Nichols Cooper; brother, Eugene Speck. Survivors include daughter Peggy Nichols Witt ( Jerry) of Sevierville TN; son Kevin Nichols (Joellen) of Dayton; son Chris Nichols of Xenia; son-in-law Ronnie Cooper of Huber Heights; 4 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild; brothers Norman Speck and Lonnie Freymuth; sisters Barbara Curtis, Juanita Speck, and Joyce Miracle, and many other relatives and friends. The family will gather with friends Wednesday, January 11, 2012, at McColaugh Funeral Home in Xenia from 5-7 pm with a short memorial following. On Thursday, January 12, 2012, family will greet friends at Roger W. Davis Funeral Home in West Portsmouth beginning at 11:00 am with funeral services at 1:00. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
