William D. Houck
Greensburg
William D. Houck, 88, of Greensburg, died Wednesday, June 22, 2005, in Loyalhanna Care Center, Latrobe. Born July 7, 1916, in Indiana County, he was a son of the late Joseph and Charlotte (Gibson) Houck. He retired from I.T.E. Circuit Breaker Co., South Greensburg. A World War II veteran, he served in the U.S. Navy. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Verne I. (Shields) Houck; four brothers, Jay Houck, James Yeager, Homer Yeager and Edward Yeager; and three sisters, Violet Zajdel, Marie Emerick and Mary Houck. He is survived by a daughter, Connie P. Shick and husband, Paul, of Latrobe; two grandchildren, Scott Shick and Christine Paravate; two great-granddaughters, Melissa Paravate and Emily Paravate; and several nieces and nephews. Family and friends will be received from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in the JOHN J. LOPATICH FUNERAL HOME INC., 601 Weldon St., Latrobe. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday in the funeral home with the Rev. Doug Show officiating. Military services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Friday in the funeral home with American Legion Post #515 and VFW Post #3414. Interment in St. Clair Cemetery, Greensburg. The family suggests memorial contributions to Action for Animals, or the Latrobe First Church of God, 616 Station St., Latrobe, PA 15650.
