Birth: May 25, 1911 Home Indiana County Pennsylvania, USA Death: Oct. 11, 2000 Middletown Butler County Ohio, USA Ruth McClanahan, 89, of Middletown, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 11, 2000, at Garden Manor Extended Care Center. She was born on May 25, 1911, in Home, Pa., and had lived here since 1950. Mrs. McClanahan had worked as a bookkeeper for 12 years for the Middletown public schools. She had also been employed as a telephone operator for Bell Telephone Co. She was a member of the Breiel Boulevard First Church of God. She was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. Hollie McClanahan in 1961; her parents, Benton Eugene and Winona Addie (Rice) McClanahan; a brother, Harold Furman; and a sister, Nora Smith. Survivors include a niece, Mildred Fox of Middletown; a brother, Wesley Furman of Punxsutawney, Pa.; two sisters-in-law, Luella McCuistion and Mattie McClanahan, both of Middletown; and several other nieces and nephews. ARRANGEMENTS: Funeral services are set for 2 p.m. Saturday at Joseph Baker-Stevens Funeral Home, 1500 Manchester Ave. Interment will be at Woodside Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
