Bowen & Company, Inc., Indianapolis, 1914, Mary came to the US with her parents (Johannes and Dora (Schoudel) Mehr) and her sister Katherine (who married Frank P. Miller) when she was only 17 (1871) and spoke no English. Mary A. married Frederick the following year in 1872, and they had Frederick and Annie Shoudel (daughter of M. L. Shoudel) and they have nine children, Fred, Dora, Matthias, Mary, Celia, Joseph, Herman, and Christian. Mary Smith (wife of Thomas), and they have one child, Genevieve. Frank and Anna Schiffli who had four children, Olivia, who died at he age of ten weeks, Lauretta, Clarence and Raymond. Dora (wife of Frank Walker). When Frederick died in 1895, she re-married John Hoffelder in 1897.
