Obituary Mr. George Funk; was born February 2. 1S29 in Oberschlettenbach, Germany. In 1S53 he was united in marriage -to Miss " Elizabeth Heifer. To this union were born two daughters, one dying; in infancy.', The mother followed soon after. The one daughter, Alary, .is still living'. September 6, 1859 " h was united in marriaee to Mis3 Elizabeth Stoe- Uener. This -union was blessed with eig:ht children, three girls and five boys. ;The two oldest boys' died in infanej? -in Germany. April 24, 1S67, he with his wife and three children Mary, Kathanna and Balentin, immigrated to this country loeatirt on a farm near Worden, Douglas county. , Kansas, living there until the death,' of his .wife, March 26, 1907. Here four children were born two boys dying in infancy. -' Valentin lived till manhood when he was aceidentally shot V January 10. He died at the age of 20 years. The deceased took sick -Wednesday morning; January 28, 1920, with bronchial pneumonia and after an illness of six dnvs'ppssed to his' home prepared on High, February 2, 1920, cn his 91st birtndav. Mr. George Funk was one of the earliest settlers of Dougins county, going through all the hardships ef the early days. He was converted and joined the Evangelical church of Wor den. In 1872 he did his first part in helping touild the first church of Worden. .After the death of his wife he left Worden : to makd his' home . with his daughter. iMrs. M. Schutz, near Lawrence. Kansas.. His last years -were spent in peace and comfort, made so by ' the loving care and kindness of his (laughters. Mrs. Lydia Schutz , and family and Mrs. Kathania Schneck and family, .of Kansas City, where he spent several winters. He is survived by his four daughters Mrs. Mary , Mohler, of Overbrook, Kansas. Mrs. Kathanna Schneck. of Kansas City. Mrs. Lydia Schutz, of Lawrence, KJansas, Mrs. IJlizabetha Vehmann. of Hartville. Wisconsin. Besides this there are sixteen grandchildren, fourteen, great grand children, nine nephews and eight neices, besides neighbors and a host of friends. .
