Obituary for M. Eleanor Juza
Mary Eleanor Juza, 100, died in Eau Claire, on Thursday, January 30, 2014, at Our House Memory Care under the care of St. Joseph Hospice. She was born February 8, 1913, in Augusta, WI. Her parents, John A. Radtke and Louisa (Burkhart) Radtke, were children of German immigrants who settled in Wisconsin before 1870. When she was five years old Eleanor’s family moved to Rice Lake. She graduated from Rice Lake High School in 1930, and received a diploma from Barron County Normal School in 1931. As a young woman she worked at the El Lago Theater in Rice Lake and as a dental assistant. She was later employed by the First National Bank and was a teller at the Dairy State Bank from 1953-1958.
Eleanor married Kenneth J. Juza, a resident of Haugen, on June 17, 1947, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Rice Lake. She and her husband settled in Eau Claire after he retired from the US Army in 1968. They enjoyed spending time at their summer home on Stone Lake in Washburn County.
Mrs. Juza is survived by her daughter, Barbara Juza of Miami, FL; her daughter and son-in-law, Mary Anne and Jim Fox of Carbondale, IL; her grandson and his wife, Stephen and Stephanie Fox of Marshall, IL; and three great-grandchildren, Madeleine, Charles, and Natalie Fox. Other survivors include her sister, Mary J. Lenar of Greenfield, WI; numerous nieces and nephews; and a special caregiver and friend, Kristine A. Smith of Eau Claire.
Mrs. Juza was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Kenneth in 2007; and by her brothers, John B. Radtke, William G. Radtke, and J. Peter Radtke.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, February 11, 2014, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 416 Dewey St. in Eau Claire with Father George Thayilkuzhithottu officiating. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Eau Claire.
