Ferner and his second wife, Anna Maria Wirges. At various times in his life he worked as a pattern maker's apprentice, a driver for a coffee company, but his real love was music and the remaining years of his career seemed to involve music as he played in theaters in the Saint Louis area and also was for a time was an orchestra musician. He married Agnes Elizabeth Busch, daughter of John Busch and Harriet Wood, probably around 1909, in Saint Louis. They had two daughters, Celeste and Marie. William died on 5 January 1972 in Saint Louis, at the age of 88 years, 7 months, 22 days. He was buried in Calvary Cemetery on 7 January 1972. Family links: Parents: Charles L.
