Beverly L. Dries Asheville - Beverly L. Dries died peacefully at home on Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2004. She has been called home to heaven and has been graciously given eternal life through her faith in Jesus Christ. Bevs life was about service to God and to others. She gave of her time, her talents, her wisdom and her humor. She was an avid artist, seamstress, quilt designer and made many, many banners and paraments for the church congregations she called home. She made blankets for children in the hospital through her volunteer work with Project Linus and hats for chemotherapy patients at the Hope Center, where she herself was a patient. She could  and did - make everything beautiful. She was a graduate of the Lutheran Medical Center School of Nursing in St. Louis and the University of Illinois. She served as a registered nurse, giving comfort to those she touched. She then worked for the University of Illinois for 30 years, most recently as the Director of Risk Management, giving graciously of her time and talents there. She was a devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend. She always made you feel accepted, appreciated and loved. She loved to laugh and her smiles would always make you happy too. She had a very kind and giving spirit and now shes waiting for all of us to join her in heaven. We are all only a breath away from our reunion with her and with our Lord. She was preceded in death by her father, Walter Lueking, of Hamel, Ill.; her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Emma and Gustav Dries of Hoyleton, Ill.; her sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Annette and Clarence Reinkensmeyer of Hoyleton, Ill.; her brother-in-law, Leroy Sprehe of Belleville, Ill.; and her sister-in-law, Marilyn Spenner of Hoyleton, Ill. She is survived by her mother, Elva Lueking of Hamel, Ill.; husband, Allen Dries of Asheville; daughter, Anne Dries of Atlanta; son, John Dries of Sussex, N.J.; sister and brother-in-law, Sharilyn and Kennneth Moehle of Edwardsville, Ill.; sister-in-law, Verena Sprehe of Belleville, Ill.; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Eugene and Cornilia Dries of Hoyleton, Ill.; brother-in law, Lloyd Spenner of Hoyleton, Ill.; and sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Marlene and Norman Kahre of Hoyleton, Ill. The funeral service will held at 3 p.m. Sunday at Emmanuel Luthern Church. The Rev. R. Mark Nieting and the Rev. Dr. Fredrick Stiemke will officiate. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday at Morris Funeral Home, 304 Merrimon Ave. In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made in Bevs name to the Emmanuel Lutheran Church Memorial Garden Fund in Asheville.
