Verena Sprehe, nee Dries, 87, of Belleville, IL, born May 2, 1923, in Hoyleton, IL, died Saturday, January 15, 2011, at Memorial Hospital, Belleville, IL.
Mrs. Sprehe was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Belleville, IL.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, LeRoy J. Sprehe, whom she married December 3, 1940, in Paducah, KY, and who died May 4, 2003; her parents, Gustav and Emma, nee Nolte, Dries; a son, Wayne Sprehe; and two sisters, Annette ?Nettie? Reinkensmeyer and Marilyn Spenner.
Surviving are two daughters, Shelby (Robert) Mehrtens of Smithton, IL,
and Maxine (Jim) Edwards of Belleville, IL;
her former son-in-law, Dwight Michael of St. Louis, MO;
five grandchildren, Bradley Michael, Tina (Ryan) Miller, Kristi Edwards, Kimberly (Oscar) Slater, and James Edwards (fiancee Jessica Carr);
a great-grandson, Jacob Slater;
a sister, Marlene (Norman) Kahre of Hoyleton, IL;
two brothers, Eugene (Connie) Dries of Hoyleton, IL,
and Allen Dries of Asheville, NC;
and nieces and nephews.

Visitation: Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, January 18, 2011, at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, IL, and from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 19, 2011, at Zion Lutheran Church, Belleville, IL.
Funeral: Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 19, 2011, at Zion Lutheran Church, Belleville, IL, with Pastor Gary Byers officiating.
Burial will be in St. John Lutheran Cemetery, New Minden, IL.
