CORBIN Jerry D. Corbin, 73, a resident of Elberta, Alabama and a summer resident of Davenport died suddenly and unexpectedly on Monday, May 3, 2010. Visitation 9.30-10.30a and Mass of Christian Burial will be 11a May 6, 2010 at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, 2618 Boies Avenue, Davenport. Burial in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Davenport. Jerry D. Corbin, 73, Davenport, died May 3, 2010, at Genesis West, Davenport.
Services are 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Alphonsus Catholic, Davenport. Burial is at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Davenport. Visitation is 4-7 p.m. today at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries, Davenport, and 9:30-10:30 a.m. Thursday.
Surviving are his wife, Janice; children, Terri, Davenport, Jill, Kewanee, Jerri, Bettendorf, Danny, Davenport, Greg, Arizona, Matt, Glendale Heights, Ill; 19 grandchildren; a great-grandson; a stepson; three sisters; and three brothers.

Jerry D. Corbin, 73, a resident of Elberta, Alabama and a summer resident of Davenport died suddenly and unexpectedly on Monday, May 3, 2010 at Genesis Medical Center, West Central Park, Davenport after suffering an apparent massive heart attack. He and his wife Jan had returned home to Davenport on Sunday, May 2, after spending a wonderful winter at their home in Alabama.
Funeral services and a Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 6, 2010 at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, 2618 Boies Avenue, Davenport. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Davenport. Visitation will be today (Wednesday) from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, 614 Main Street, Davenport. The family will also greet friends from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 Thursday morning at the funeral home prior to the procession to church.
Jerry Dean Corbin was born March 18, 1937 in Nevada, Iowa a son of Hugh and Emma (Wirth) Corbin. He was a graduate of the former St. Ambrose Academy.
He was united in marriage to JoAnn McNamara on February 15, 1958 in Davenport. She preceded him in death on March 12, 2005. He then married Janice C. Stenz on January 20, 2007 in Alabama.
Jerry retired in 1992 after thirty-seven years of service at Oscar Mayer Food Corporation. He was a production line supervisor at the time he retired.
He was a member of St. Margaret of Scotland Catholic Church, Foley, Alabama, the Knights of Columbus 532, Elks and Moose Lodge in Davenport.
He was an avid sports fan, he enjoyed following the Chicago Bears, the Hawkeyes and NASCAR. He also enjoyed time spent outdoors, especially playing golf.
Jerry's most cherished moments in life were those times he spent with his family, he was a devoted husband to both JoAnn and Jan, and a wonderful father, grandfather and friend.
Memorials can be made to Hand-in-Hand in care of Tessa's Place.
Survivors include his wife, Jan, children and their spouses, Terri Jo and Randy Johnson, Davenport, Jill Uitermarkt, Kewanee, Illinois, Jerri Lynn Garman and Ron May, Bettendorf, Danny and Kelli Corbin, Davenport, Greg Corbin, Arizona, and Matt Corbin, Glendale Heights, Illinois, a step-son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Pam Fluck, Sterling, Illinois; nineteen grandchildren and one great grandson; sisters, Iona Ricketts, Davenport, Rose (Art) Schebler, Davenport and Mary (Ron) Fincham, Eldridge, Iowa; brothers, Jack (Shirley) Corbin, Florida, Ron (Helen Ann) Corbin and Don (Carol) Corbin, all of Davenport; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, JoAnn, a grandson, Hunter Corbin, and brothers, Ed and Abe Corbin. May they rest in peace.
The family would like to extend sincere thanks to Dr. Michael Gimbel as well as his office staff, the nurses and doctors at Genesis West ER, and the Buffalo Ambulance service.
