Minnie Rapsavage, 69, the former New Salem Journal co-publisher, New Salem, died June 24, 1999, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at noon MDT Monday at St. Pius Catholic Church, New Salem. Burial will be in North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, at 3 p.m. CDT.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. CDT Sunday, at Weigel Funeral Home, Mandan, 4-9 p.m. MDT Sunday at St. Pius Catholic Church. A rosary will be said at 7 p.m. MDT at the church in New Salem.
Minnie was born on June 27, 1929, to Nick Lipp and Pauline Wirtz in Center, where she attended Oliver County Schools. In July 1950, she married C.J. "Bud" Rapsavage in Center, where they continued to live and work with his father publishing the Center Republican.
In 1955, they moved to Bowman, where C.J. was employed with the Bowman County Pioneer. In 1958, the couple returned to Center where they became co-publishers of the Center Republican. They continued in the newspaper business, and in 1965, when they moved to New Salem, where they co-published the New Salem Journal until their retirement in 1988.
Following retirement, they moved to Vancouver, Wash. and returned to North Dakota in 1992 to live in Bismarck. In March 1999, C.J. and Minnie once again made New Salem their home.
Minnie was a member of St. Pius Church in New Salem and the American Legion Auxiliary. She served on the board of directors for Elm Crest Manor and was named Businesswoman of the Year by the New Salem Jaycees.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother and a sister.
