Theodore ?Ted? Glasser, 82, Bismarck, formerly of Glen Ullin, went home to be with his Heavenly Father on Jan. 17, 2011, at the Baptist Home, Bismarck, after a long struggle with Alzheimer?s disease. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. CST Friday, Jan. 21, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Glen Ullin, with the Rev. Arul Joseph celebrating. Burial will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery later this spring.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. CST today at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with a rosary and vigil service being held at 6 p.m. CST.
Ted was born Aug. 29, 1928, in rural Glen Ullin, the son of Alfonse and Rose (Emter) Glasser. He was raised and educated in the rural St. Joseph area south of Glen Ullin. Ted married Germaine Hertz on Sept. 23, 1952, and they lived on the farm where he grew up.
Ted was a farmer/rancher all his life and his passion was raising registered Hereford cattle. He often attended livestock auction sales well after his retirement and many asked his advice because of his knowledge and love of the breed. He enjoyed bowling and watching rodeos, boxing and baseball. He also loved old-time music and dancing polka with Germaine.
Ted was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Glen Ullin Saddle Club, Morton County Sheriff?s Posse, St. Joseph Church Men?s Society and the American and North Dakota Hereford Associations.
Ted is survived by his wife, Germaine, Bismarck; his sons, Charles, Mandan, Joel (Fran), Mandan, and Gene (Kari), Glen Ullin; his daughter, Geralyn (Demetri Debe), Minneapolis; his brothers, Tony (Delphia), Glen Ullin, and Martin (Audrey), Lewiston, Idaho; his sisters, Florence (Val) Himelspach, Spokane, Wash., and Virginia (Rusty) Wilson, Dover, N.H.; three sisters-in-law, Pauline Glasser, Glen Ullin, Patsy Glasser, Glen Ullin, and Evelyn Glasser, Mandan; his grandson, Justin Glasser, Fargo; his granddaughters, Mandy (Mike) Dillinger, San Antonio, Texas, Shantel Glasser, Mandan, and Jessica Miller, Fargo; and his great-granddaughter and great-grandson, Ella and Grant Dillinger, San Antonio.
