Services for former Syracuse area resident Michael J. Sheridan, 30, who was found dead May 30 in Gainsville, Fla., were Monday, June 12 in Holy Family Church in Fairmount. Burial will be in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery, Marcellus. Mr. Sheridan who resided in Atlanta, GA., at the time of his death, disappeared May 23 while on a business trip to Florida. The Alachua County Sheriff's Department in Gainsville has been investigating Mr. Sheridan's death. A department spokesman said Friday, June 9 officials are treating the death as suspicious, but there are no suspects and know more about the circumstances of Mr. Sheridan's death than when the investigation began.
A native of Syracuse, Mr. Sheridan lived 18 years in the Syracuse area and later in Chattanooga, Tenn. He moved to Atlanta, where he was a residential marketing representative with Amoco Fabrics Co. for the past two years. Mr. Sheridan was a 1977 graduate of Marcellus High School, received a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration from Catawba College, Salisbury, N.C., and a Masters Degree in Economics from the Middle Tennessee State University. While in high school at Marcellus, he was active in track and was Co-Captain of the Track Team during his senior year.
Surviving are his wife, the former Regina Duffy; his parents, Frederick and Patricia Sheridan of Howlett Hill; two sisters, Nancy Spencer of Albany and Mary Agnes Kane of Syracuse; 5 brothers, Christopher of California, Daniel and Thomas, both of Texas, Timothy of Florida, and Peter at home; and several nieces and nephews. Contributions may be made to the Michael J. Sheridan Memorial Scholarship Fund or the Alzheimer's Disease Association, 4441 West Kirpatrick St., Syracuse, NY 13204.
