BOSOLD, Leo F. Sr, 80, of Wheeling, WV, died Wednesday, August 11, 2010 at home.
He was born January 8, 1930 in Brookside, OH, a son of the late Maurice R. and Margaret M. Lough Bosold.
He was a retired employee of Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel, Yorkville Plant, a member of St. Joseph Cathedral Catholic Church, Wheeling, a Marine veteran of the Korean War and life member of the Bellaire D.A.V.
Participating in operations against enemy forces in south and central Korea, he earned the Purple Heart during the assault and seizure of Inchon, Korea. He participated in the capture and securing of Seoul, Korea, and the Wonsan-Hungnam-Chosin, Korea, campaign.
Leo loved to go fishing and traveled the country enjoying his hobby.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Paul and Joseph Bosold; two sisters, Mary M. Rix and Theresa I. Kosanovic; and a grandson, Scott Bosold.
Surviving are his wife, Norma J. Metz Bosold; one daughter, Darlene F. (Allen) Shane of Yorkville, OH; three sons, Leo F. Bosold Jr. and Daniel G. Bosold, both of Okeechobee, FL, and David B. (Rose) Bosold of Bellaire, OH; a brother, Robert B. Bosold of Shadyside, OH; 13 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
Friends received 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday at the Altmeyer Funeral Home, 1400 Eoff St., Wheeling.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, August 14, 2010 at St. Joseph Cathedral, Wheeling.
