Bernard Russell Arnold, 96, of South Richard St., Bedford, died Thursday, Jan. 18, 2001, at his home.
Born Dec. 30, 1904, in Bedford, he was a son of the late William Ralph and Theresa(McGuinn) Arnold.
On Feb. 17, 1927, in Bedford, he married Pearl A. Yutzy, who preceded him in death on April 11, 1999.
Mr. Arnold is survived by two children: J. Robert Arnold, married to the former Grace Ann Hankinson, of Bedford, and Elizabeth A. Walton, wife of the late Coates Walton Jr. of Bedford, nine grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and one great-great grandson, brother Joseph Arnold, husband of the former Theresa Beemiller of Bedford and sister Ruth Dunham of Harrisburg.
Preceding him in death were his son, Joseph B. Arnold, a grandaughter, brothers Kenneth and William Dennis Arnold and sisters Elizabeth Heacock, Dora Logue, and Anna Thompson.
Mr. Arnold was a member of St. Thomas Catholic church, Bedford.
He worked as a surveyor after high school, then worked for several years for Metzger Supply Co. before opening Arnold's Floor Covering in 1946.
He was a member of Bedford Elks Lodge No. 1707 and the Elk's Men's Golf and Bowling associations.
Funeral mass: Saturday, 10 a.m. at St. Thomas Church with the Revs. John C. Vago and Raymond G. Crosser officiating. Burial in Madley Cemetary.
Following the funeral, friends will be received at St. Thomas School Hall.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Thomas Catholic Church, 215 E. Penn St., Bedford, or a charity of choice.
