David Kendall Austin, Jr., Overland Park, KS, passed away Tuesday, July 6, 2004, at Villa St. Francis Nursing Center, Olathe, KS. Memorial services will be 7 p.m. Thursday, July 8 at the Amos Family Chapel of Shawnee. Memorial contributions may be made to either the Alzheimer's Association, 3846 W. 75th St., Prairie Village, KS, 66208, or Olathe Medical Center Hospice, 20333 W. 151st St., TDB 2, Suite 301, Olathe, KS, 66061. Mr. Austin was born July 26, 1914, in Kansas City, MO, to David K. and Lillian (Brown) Austin. He was a veteran of the US Army during WWII, and served two years in India. Mr. Austin was a graduate of the University of Kansas. He served as president of the A.S. Coates, Inc. Mr. Austin was preceded in death by his wife Margery (Worick) Austin in 1996, and his daughter Barbara L. Seicheipine. Survivors include his three sons, James H. Austin, Prairie Village, KS, William E. Austin, Overland Park, KS, and David K. Louis was born May 19, 1916, in Bogard, MO. He was a self employed contractor, and was a founding member of Southwood United Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by brother Bill Bartlett, sister Louise Cullen, and grandson Shannon Lee Hall. Survivors include two daughters, Barbara Benson, Kansas City, MO, Diana and husband Randy Hall, Blue Springs, MO; son Terry Bartlett, Kansas City, MO; two brothers, Albert and wife Audrey Bartlett, Claremont, CA, Earl and wife Lavada Bartlett, Houston, TX; sisters Sue Stone and companion Joyce Herndon, Kansas City, MO, Jane and husband John Martens, Higginsville, MO; sister-in-law Blanche Bartlett, Warrensburg, MO; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
