ZANESVILLE -- Regis "Mike" E. Michel, 83, of Zanesville,
died at 12:48 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2004, at Genesis Bethesda emer-
gency room after a brief illness.
He was born Friday, Jan. 14, 1921, in Caldwell, the son of
Edward and Kathryn (Crum) Michel. He was a member of St. Nicholas
Catholic Church, owner and manager of Farm Supply Center, Inc. since
1951 and Michel Livestock Farms. Mr. Michel was also a member of the
Zanesville Chamber of Commerce, Ohio Agri Business Association, an
affiliate member of Soil and Water Conservation and a member Muskin-
gum County Cattlemen's Association. He served his country in the U.S.
Army.
Survivors include seven children, Donald (Sandy) Michel, Paul
Michel, Eugene (Polly) Michel and Dennis (Vicki) Michel, all of Zanesville,
Janet (Don) Hawk of Danville, Nancy (Galen) Peck of Hopewell and Karen
(Jim) Obermiller of New Philadelphia; 25 grandchildren, Andrew and Carrie
Michel, Yvette, Russell and Brad Michel, Karen Lawler, Jared, Jessica and
Janelle Michel, Danny, Delbert, Joe Hawk and Shannon Robinson, Patrick,
Brian, Scott, Stephen Michel and Becky Dennis, Stacey, Jason, David and
Erin Peck, Joshua, Jenna and Justine Obermiller; nine great-grandchildren;
two brothers, Sergis Michel of Caldwell and John Cletus Michel of Zanes-
ville; and a friend, Carol.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife,
Leona M. (Yontz) Michel, who died Feb. 15, 1995; one granddaughter,
Jolene Michel; and two brothers, Rupert and Herbert Michel.
Friends may call 3:30 to 5:30 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday Dec. 3, at the
Hillis & Hardwick Funeral Home, 935 Forest Ave.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Saturday,
Dec. 4, 2004, at St. Nicholas Catholic Church with Father Leo L. Connolly as
celebrant. Burial will be in Mount Olive Cemetery, in Zanesville
