Carl W. Rothrock of Bloomington passed away Sunday, October 28, 2007, at 10:54 p.m. at the home of his Caregivers, Jim and Rita Beavans.
Born on January 12, 1935, in Harrison County, Indiana, he was the son of Elmer T. Rothrock and N. Ruth (Belden) Rothrock. Carl retired in 2000 from Victor Oolitic Stone Company, where he worked as an Office Manager since October, 1960. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army and active volunteer in The Boy Scouts and The Opportunity House. He was also a founding member of The Woodhaven Christian Church.
Carl was grateful for the life he enjoyed despite the challenges he endured. He believed his purpose in life was to help others. His observant and sensitive nature guided his generosity. Friends, family, shut-ins and anyone else in need could expect Carl's generous caring. He did this privately and individually, wishing no recognition or reward. The extraordinary degree to which Carl acted on this belief made him special. Caring for wildlife, sharing his garden were further life-long ways that Carl fulfilled the Christ Idea.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret E. (Beaumont) Rothrock, in 2002, and his father, Elmer T. Rothrock.
Survivors include his mother, N. Ruth (Belden) Rothrock of Bloomington; four brothers, E. LeRoy Rothrock of Bloomington, Marvin P. Rothrock of Fayetteville, NC, Larry G. Rothrock of Pine Bluff, AK, and O. Lee Palmer of Gosport; one sister Lucy Palmer Palko of Spencer; one son, Anthony W. Rothrock of Bloomington; two daughters, Suzanne R. Bevers of Spencer and Cynthia E. Jolliffee of Mitchell; three granddaughters, Victoria E. Abbott-Ozug of Bloomington, Stephanie K. Abbott of Indianapolis and Crystal L.
