Eleanor M. Gerhardstein Groff, age 94 of Bellevue passed away Sunday, Aug. 14, 2011 at Stein Hospice Care Center, Sandusky. She was born March 16, 1917 in Bellevue the daughter of the late Robert & Ethel (Rapp) Gerhardstein.
Eleanor was one of six children, and a lifelong Bellevue resident, a 1935 graduate of Bellevue High School, and a member of Immaculate Conception Church.
Survivors include her daughters; Rosemary E. (Joseph) Miano, Marlene (William) Toole, 7 grandchildren: Karee Miano, Scott (Penny) Miano, Marc (Marge) Miller, Dana (Michael) Kaser, Randall (Tracy) Miller, Aaron (Amanda Melching) Toole and Dannon Toole (Aaron) Coleman and Adam Toole; 9 great-grandchildren: Joseph Scott (Megan) Miano, Elisha Miano (Kirk) Piscitello, Lindsey Miano (Mario) Gutierrez, Jacob Miller, Ryan Miller, Kody Kaser, Shelby Kaser, Noah Kaser, Mia Miller, and Alexandria Miller. A nephew, Melvin Bailey, great niece Sharon Wolke, and caregivers and special friends, Ruth and Trish Mason and Linda Hartman.
Many who call her sister, Mom, Aunt, Grandma, and friend will miss the kind, gentle heart that has left us. She leaves boundless memories to give us smiles and examples to live by. Deeply missed, happily remembered, lovingly held in the heart of those who knew her, that is Eleanor.
She married Edmund A. Groff Feb. 20, 1937 in Bellevue. He preceded her in death Aug. 26, 2005. She is also preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Mardelle Elizabeth Ide, Arlene Lucille Bailey, three brothers, Leo Own Gerhardstein, Carl Elsworth Gerhardstein, Paul Robert Gerhardstein. One grandson, Greg Anthony Miano and niece Shirley Ide Howard.
Friends will be received Wednesday, Aug. 17, 2011 from 6-9 p.m. at Foos and Foos Funeral Service, 151 Yorkshire Place, Bellevue where the funeral service will be held Thursday at 11:00 am. Burial will follow at Bellevue Catholic Cemetery.
