Barbara, born in Russia, married Jacob on Nov 6, 1858 when she was about 21 years old.
Sixteen years later after having nine children, the family traveled to Hamburg, Germany; from there they sailed to Hull, England, and journeyed to Liverpool by rail. They sailed from Liverpool to New York City on the ship, "City of Richmond".
After landing Aug. 31, 1874, the colony started West by train to be housed and placed by Mennonite Church boards in Mennonite communities. They lived in Adams County, Indiana for several years before moving to Reno County, Kansas.
Barbara and Jacob had 13 children:
1) Catherine Fliginger (1859-1929), Married John Snyder.
2) John Fliginger (1861-1940, Married Elizabeth Zimmerman.
3) Mary Fliginger (1862-1928), Married Jacob Miller.
4) Annie Fliginger (1864-), Died in Russia.
5) Fanny Fliginger (1864-1947), Married Henry Zimmerman.
6) Jacob Fliginger (1868-1957), Married Mary Oyer.
7) Anna Fliginger (1870-1948)
8) Christian Fliginger (1872-1943), Married Adeline Yaggy.
9) Caroline Fliginger (1874-1959), Married Solomon Zimmerman.
10) Abraham Fliginger (1876-1962), Married Amanda Schlabach.
11) Sarah Fliginger (1878-)
12) Sarah Fliginger (1880-1910), Married W. C. Stopher.
13) Joseph Fliginger (1883-), Married Mary Miller.
