Obituary - Joseph J. Barscz
Joseph J. Barscz, 80, of 734 State Route 157, died at 7:40 a.m. Friday, May 7, 2004, at Beverly Healthcare-Oil City.
Born Oct. 24, 1923, in Oil City, he was a son of the late Frank and Josephine Skiba Barscz.
Mr. Barscz attended Assumption School.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He was employed at National Transit, Worthington, other local factories and lastly Franklin Steel.
He enjoyed his family, grandchildren and friends. He also enjoyed auctions, garage sales and tinkering.
Mr. Barscz was married Dec. 2, 1950, to the former Alice M. Perrett, who preceded him in death April 6, 1991.
He is survived by two sons, Stanley C. Barscz and his wife, Lois, and Joseph D. Barscz and his wife, Debra, all of Oil City; two grandchildren, James and Stacey of the Oil City area; four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Barscz and Ann Barscz, both of Oil City; two brothers, Stephen Barscz of California and Adam Barscz of Erie; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Barscz was preceded in death by four brothers, Walter Barscz, Casimir Barscz, Stanley Barscz and John Barscz; and a sister, Agnes Turk.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the Morrison Funeral Home, Oil City.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Interment will be in Sunset Hill Memorial Gardens.
The family suggests memorials be made to a charity of one's choice.
