LARK E. WHITEHEAD 6/17/1912 - 12/11/2002 Clark E. Whitehead, 90, of Wyaconda, MO, passed away December 11, 2002, in the Clark County Nursing Home in Kahoka, MO. The son of James R. and Eva Estella (Horn) Whitehead, he was born on June 17, 1912, in Kahoka, MO. He attended school at Fairmont. While still living at home, he was a heavy equipment operator for Clark County. He was married to Velma Koontz on April 16, 1940.To this union four children were born. He was then married to Ruth Stricklen of Moline, IL. She preceded him in death. In the late 1940's, he was a brakeman conductor for the Santa Fe Railroad. Clark was then a heavy equipment operator for Morris Knutson out of Iowa. From 1953-1957, he farmed north of Wyaconda until everything was lost in a fire. From 1956-57, he worked for Dryden Rubber. Clark then moved to Kansas City and was a security guard for Burns Pinkerton. In 1961, he moved to Moline, IL, and joined the United Carpenters Union until his retirement in 1982. He was known for his beautiful woodwork. Clark was actively involved in the Baptist Church wherever he lived and coached softball and baseball for youth groups for many years. His first love was playing the organ and piano. Preceding him in death were his parents; one brother; and two sisters. Survivors include his son, Robert Whitehead and his wife, Vivian of Wyaconda, MO; three daughters, Barbara Whitehead of Dixon, IL, Mrs. Edward (Bonnie) Brewer of Kahoka, MO, and Betty Sedillo of Jefferson City, MO; one brother, James Whitehead of Carmin, IL; 14 grandchildren; 37 great-grand-children; two great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Funeral services were held December 14, 2002 in the Wyaconda Baptist Church in Wyaconda, MO, with Reverend Ernest Deatrick officiating. The pianist was Reverend Paul Kinney. Serving as pallbearers were Wayne Whitehead, Charles Best, Bud Huber, William Randle and Forrest Whitehead. Honorary bearers were Carl Randle, Mark Whitehead, and Jeff Whitehead. Interment was in the Combs Cemetery, Luray, MO. Arrangements were handled by Gerth Funeral Service from their Wyaconda, MO chapel.
