Saar, 91, of Keokuk died at 10:40 p.m. Tuesday, June 3, 2008, at River Hills Village in Keokuk. Born Dec. 24, 1916, in Farmington, she was the daughter of Samuel and Helen Pollard Anthony. On Feb. 28, 1935, she married Carl E. Saar in Kahoka, Mo. Mrs. Saar was a bookkeeper at J.C. Penny's and Montgomery Ward and worked at Lee County Raceway. She was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ. Survivors include one son, Jerry Saar of Keokuk; one daughter, Linda Rutherford of Shawnee Mission, Kan.; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; numerous great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Mabel Anderson of Keokuk; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, two sons, her parents, two brothers and two sisters. No visitation is planned. The graveside funeral for Mrs. Saar will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Hickory Grove Cemetery with the Rev. Mike Shea officiating. The funeral procession will leave Greaves Mortuary in Keokuk at 10:45 a.m. A memorial has been established for River Hills Village.
