James "Jim" F. Walker, 74, of Washington died Tuesday evening, May 4, 2004, at his home south of Washington.
Born Aug. 5, 1929, in New Orleans, La., he was the son of Forrest D. and Genevieve Benda Walker. On Aug. 5, 1954, he married Mary Lou Bombei in Harper.
Mr. Walker worked at REA Express for 10 years in Washington and later for Milwaukee Railroad for 20 years, retiring Sept. 1, 1992. He also farmed south of Washington.
He attended St. James School and graduated from Washington High School. He was a member of St. James Catholic Church. He enjoyed hunting, guns, storytelling and riding his four?wheeler.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Doug Walker of Wayland and Frank Walker of Wellman; five daughters, Vicky Johnson, Barbara Walker and Mary Greiner, all of Washington, Annette Kuhlmeier of Burlington and Brenda Sieren of Keota; and eight grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. today at Beatty Funeral Home in Washington, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. There will be a vigil service at 7:30 p.m.
A memorial Mass for Mr. Walker will be at 11 a.m. Friday at St. James Catholic Church in Washington, with the Rev. Ed O'Mealia officiating. The body has been cremated. Burial will be in SS Peter and Paul Catholic Cemetery in Harper.
Memorials have been established for Hospice of Washington County, SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church and St. James Catholic Church.
