Bio: MAYSVILLE ? Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Fritsch, 95, formerly of Maysville, died Monday, Nov. 7, at LPN Health Care in Newark, Ohio.She was born Sept. 29, 1910. Her parents, the late Charles and Margaret Fister Schumacher moved to Mason County the next year and were members of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Maysville. She was the oldest of seven children, all of whom also reside in Maysville or Mason County, one retiring to this area.Mary Elizabeth married Albert A. Fritsch, also from Mason County on Feb. 11, 1931, at St. Patrick's Church. They resided at 401 East Mapleleaf Road. They raised six children, all of whom attended St. Patrick's School. Mrs. William L. (Dorothy Ann) Harmeyer. She and her husband Bill, live in Cincinnati; Fr. Albert J. Fritsch S.J., St. Elizabeth of Hungry Church Rvaenna; Charles A. Fritsch, he and his wife Kathy, live in Newark, Ohio; J. Ed and Christina Fritsch reside in Sparta, N.J.; Patricia (Fritsch) Hoover lives in Bryan, Texas; Frank and Mary Fritsch currently live in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania. There are 14 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. All her siblings were predeceased. Ruth Schumacher, Anna Marie Schumacher Towney, Charles Schumacher, Alberta Schumacher, Ed Schumacher and John SchumacherMary Elizabeth and Albert Fritsch celebrated their Golden Anniversary in this community with a large gathering of friends and relatives.Albert died June 28, 1982. Mary Elizabeth remained here for many more years.Mary Elizabeth was active in many organizations throughout her life in Mason County through 1997.In the earlier years, she was a member of the Alter Society and PTA at St. Patrick's including her office of president in 1948. She was president of "Diocesan Council of Catholic Women" in 1964 through 1965.Mary Elizabeth volunteered with the Maysville Special Education Services, working as an aide in its day treatment program. She volunteered as group leader for the cooking classes for 4-H Club girls group in the 60's. She was active for decades with the Mason County Garden Club.She was a donor to public interest work and helped establish the "Mary E. Fritsch Nature Center" at Rock Castle County, near Livingston.Mary Elizabeth in her mid eighties, was under the care of Charlie and Kathy Fritsch, eventually leaving this community in 1997. She has resided at LPN Nursing home Newark, Ohio for the last five years.She was liked by everyone who met her throughout her life and will always be loved by those who had the privilege of knowing her well.Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 12, at St. Patrick Church with the Rev. William Hinds and Rev. Albert J. Fritsch S. J. officiating.Internment will follow in the St. Patrick Cemetery.Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday at Brell & Son Funeral Home.Condolences may be left at www.brellandson.com.
