Francel L. Rietz
1921-2005
Francel L. Irvine Rietz, 84, of Wheatland died Aug. 2 at Platte County Memorial Hospital in Wheatland.
She was born March 15, 1921, in Wheatland.
She was a lifelong resident of Platte County.
She married Phil Rietz on Sept. 12, 1938, in Kimball, Neb.
The couple owned and operated a ranch.
She was active as a 4-H leader, Republican Committee Woman, Garden Club member, Hobby Club member and a 50-year member of Eastern Star. She was also a member of First Christian Church, where she taught Sunday school for several years. She as honored as Ranch Woman of the Year by the Platte County Cattlewomen. She and her husband were foster parents.
She enjoyed horses, the Platte County Fair, being a floral judge, arranging flowers, and writing poetry and songs.
She is survived by her brother, James Irvine; her son, Clayton Rietz of Wheatland; daughter, Clara Powers of Lusk; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Phil Rietz; a son; and her parents.
Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at First Christian Church in Wheatland with Pastor Andy Gudahl officiating.
Friends may contribute to the Palmer Canyon Rural Fire Department, First Christian Church and the Church at Jay Em.
