George's father is listed as Adam Wachtel but there is no record that this person existed. George's mother is listed as Josephine Unknown. George's mother was Josephine Wachtel (1857-1916), born and died in Louisville Kentucky. She was never married and "Adam" was a fictitious name, probably given by a family member in the death records of George Wachtel. No member of my family knew the name of George Wachtel's father including supposedly, George. The Wachtel name came from the maternal line. Josephine's father was Martin Wachtel (1818-1967), born in Alsace-Lorraine area and died in Louisville Kentucky. Her mother was Magdalena B. (Steinel) Wachtel (1817-1901). Born probably around Alsace and died in Louisville Kentucky. Two years after George was born, Josephine had another child by this unknown father. Her name was Adelaide Wachtel, (1879-1923), Louisville Kentucky. Addie married Edward Schaefer in 1905 in Louisville. No children.
