Johnnie L. Johnson
EDINBURG - Johnnie L. Johnson, 70, died Monday, March 19, 2001, at Robinson Memorial Hospital in Ravenna of natural causes. Born July 27, 1930, in Phillippi, W.Va., he was the son of Jearl and Ottie (Phillips) Johnson. He had lived in Edinburg since 1942. Mr. Johnson had been employed as a millwright with American Steel in Alliance prior to his retirement. He was a member of the Edinburg United Church, Charity Masonic Lodge No. 530, Tadmor Temple, Kent Civil War Society, Ohio State Patrol Auxiliary and the Edinburg Zoning Board. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. Survivors include his wife, June (Dillon), whom he married on April 16, 1954; son, John R. of Kent; daughter, Treva Ann of Ellijay, Ga.; two grandchildren; brother, Charles (Mary Lou) of Edinburg; and sister, Mildred Roth of Jefferson. There will be no calling hours. Services will be held at 5:30 p.m. Friday at Edinburg United Church in Edinburg, with the Rev. Ruth Chartier officiating. Arrangements are being handled by Shorts Funeral Home, Ravenna Chapel. Burial will be in Edinburg Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Edinburg United Church or the Edinburg Fire Department.
