- Robert E. 'Cheesy' Murphy, Huntington Nov. 14, 1932 -- Feb. 11, 2004
HUNTINGTON -- Robert E. "Cheesy" Murphy, 71, died Wednesday in his home. The Huntington native was a Korean War Army veteran and retired from Fisher Engineering. Survivors include wife, Martha (Holzinger); daughters, Kathy Dill and Tamera Minniear, both of Huntington; siblings, Pat, Bluffton, and Betty Gaskill, Fort Wayne; four grandchildren and three stepgrandchildren. Services are at 10 a.m. Friday in Bailey-Love Mortuary, 35 W. Park Drive, with Russell Buzzard officiating. Burial is in Mount Hope Cemetery. Visitation is from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. today, funeral home. Memorials may be made to Parkview Home Health Care and Hospice or Cancer Services of Huntington County, in care of the funeral home.

Born in Huntington, Indiana, Mr. Murphy entered the Armyat age 20, serving during the Korean War, primarily in theHeadquarters Company, 3rd Battalion, 87th InfantryRegiment. For his service he earned the Korean ServiceMedal, the United Nations Service Medal and the NationalDefense Service Medal.
