Former Local Resident Dies Mrs. Fred Blattner, widow of a member of a pioneer Mahaska county family and a resident of Iowa City for the pass 33 years, died at her home there this morning after an illness of several months. She was born in Ottumwa and was the former Margaret Cavinaugh. She moved to Oskaloosa after her marriage to Fred Blattner, prominent Oskaloosa businessman who died in 1917. Their only daughter, Helene, was born in Oskaloosa. At present, Helene is an assistant professor of speech and drama at Stanford University. After the death of her husband, Mrs. Blattner moved to Iowa City. Funeral services will be held Friday at 9 a. m. in the St. Patrick's church in Iowa City, of which Mrs. Blattner was a member. Burial will be delayed, but it will be in the family plot at Forest cemetery here. The body is at the Mc Govern funeral home in Iowa City. The family has requested that friends send money to their favorite charity instead of purchasing flowers. Other survivors are two nieces, Mrs. Grace Cogswell of Iowa City and Mrs. F. H. Hartman of Ottumwa, and a nephew, Fred Gatrel of Rock Island.
