Hughes, Edward J., 75, of St. Petersburg died Saturday (Nov. 19, 1994) at St. Petersburg General Hospital. He came here in 1945 from his native Troy, N.Y. A registered pharmacist with the Liggett and Suprex Drug companies for 25 years, he was a graduate of the University of Florida. He was active at Holy Cross Catholic Church and Cathedral of St. Jude the Apostle. A member of the Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus, he was past district deputy and a charter member and past grand knight of Father Lopez Council 5737 Knights of Columbus. He also was a former member of Midtown Kiwanis Club of St. Petersburg. During World War II, he served in the Army. Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Irene Karl; a son, the Rev. Dennis E. Hughes, Tampa; two daughters, Karla H. Busciglio, Bradenton, and Marie Ann Hughes, St. Petersburg; and two granddaughters. Thomas J. Brett Funeral Home, St. Petersburg.
