Birth: Oct. 17, 1935 Death: Jan. 27, 2007 AUSTIN -- Carol Jean Getchell, age 71, of Austin, died Saturday, Jan. 27, 2007, at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, Minn., due to complications of chronic illness. Carol was born Oct. 17, 1935, in Austin to George R. and Mary (Logas) Twedell. She married Howard Greenlee in 1955. They were later divorced. On June 4, 1966, she married Theodore Getchell. Carol enjoyed gardening and canning, spending time with family, and decorating their home each and every holiday. Survivors include her husband, Ted Getchell, Austin; seven children: Doug (Kay) Greenlee, St. Cloud, Minn.; Dan (Judy) Greenlee, Rochester; David (Susan) Greenlee, Rochester; Dianna (Bruce) Conner, Austin; Dale Getchell, Austin; Dennis (Jill) Getchell, Sioux City, Iowa; Denise (Chad) Moore, Brownsdale, Minn.; eight grandchildren; sister, Dorothy Smith, Austin; sister-in-law, Mabel Twedell, Austin; brother-in-law, Jim Sheeley, Austin. She is preceded in death by her parents; brothers: George and Raymond; sisters: Agnes, Ethel, Mary and Mildred. A funeral mass will be celebrated 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 31, at St. Augustine Catholic Church with Father Joe Fogal officiating. There will be a 4 p.m. CCW rosary and a 6:30 p.m. wake service today at Mayer Funeral Home, where friends may call from 4-7 p.m., and also one hour before the service at the church on Wednesday.
