Fante, Lamar W.
FANTE, LAMAR W., 83, of Louisville, passed away Sunday, June 25, 2006, at St. Matthews Manor. He was a self-employed builder and carpenter. Mr. Fante was an Army veteran of World War II and was a member of the Robert E. Newman VFW Post 3636, Holy Family Catholic Church, where he was also a member of the 50-and-over club. He was ordained a deacon in the Catholic Church in 1987, and had served at Holy Family for 14 years. A son, Keith M. Fante, preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, the former Mary Rose Woods; three sons, Dennis L., Thomas G., and Kevin W. Fante (Janet); one brother, William J. Fante; and two sisters, Janice M. Lewis and Arlene F. Nold; and five grandchildren, Shawn, Erica, Jessica, Megan and Kristen; and many nieces and nephews. The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday at his church, 3926 Poplar Level Road, with burial in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1-8 p.m. Wednesday at Ratterman and Sons, 3800 Bardstown Road, and after 9 a.m. Thursday at the church. Mr. Fante requested no flowers be sent, that memorial donations be directed to Alzheimer's Association or to the American Red Cross.
