Bio: Louis "Red" Badgett, 73, North Vernon, died at 11:12 a.m. Friday, April 26, 2002, at St. Vincent Jennings Hospital, North Vernon.Mr. Badgett was a butcher for 33 years with A&P stores and was the owner of the White Front Café in North Vernon for 12 years. He served in the U.S. Army from 1950 to 1954. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, North Vernon Amvets Post 7 and the Alcoholic Beverage Commission. He had been a Kentucky Colonel since Nov. 24, 1971.Born Nov. 23, 1928, in Louisville, he was the son of Louis and Dorothy Lechner Badgett and they preceded him in death. On Feb. 10, 1951, in Louisville, he married Marilyn Silliman and she survives in North Vernon.He also is survived by a son, Paul Badgett, North Vernon; two daughters, Mary Jo Badgett and Patricia J. Badgett, both of North Vernon; a sister, Claudia Cassady, Louisville; two grandchildren, Ilese Sabelhaus and Tony Brock, both of North Vernon; and a great-granddaughter, Abigail Sabelhaus, North Vernon.The Rev. Herman Lutz will conduct funeral services at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Burial will be at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, North Vernon. Military graveside rites will be conducted by the North Vernon VFW, Matt Hester Post 2021.Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at Dove-Sharp and Rudicel Funeral Home, North Vernon. There will be a rosary service at 7 p.m. Monday, also at the funeral home.Memorials may be made to Jennings Villa through the funeral home.
