SILLIMAN, MARY CARMEL (GLASS), 89, of Louisville, passed away peacefully surrounded by family, Saturday, April 27, 2013 at Summerfield Manor Nursing Home.
She retired after 24 years from the Jefferson County Public School System, where she was a secretary at Shawnee and Barrett middle schools. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary VFW Post #3204, where she was a leader and Patriotic Instructor of their Buddy-Poppies Program, and was also a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Shawnee American Legion Post #193. "Marm" was the rock and matriarch of her beloved Silliman family.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 54 years, Robert Silliman; her children, Cheryl, Mitzi and Steve Silliman; and a grandson, Jonathan Silliman.
She is survived by her sons, Mark, Christopher (Joan), Robert and Joseph (Joanie); daughter, Carmel Silliman (Stanley); daughters-in-law, Charlotte Silliman and Cheryl Hildebrand; nine grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and her brother, Andrew Glass.
"Miss Me But Let Me Go" Her funeral Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated 10 a.m. Wednesday at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, 3511 Rudd Ave. Visitation: noon-8 p.m. Tuesday at J.B. Ratterman & Sons, 2114 W. Market St. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
