Born Oct. 27, 1923, in Shelbyville, she was the daughter of Harry and Mary (Lux) Winkler. She married Kenneth Lawrence on Feb. 13, 1943, and he preceded her in death on Aug. 11, 1985. Survivors include sons, Jerry L. Lawrence of Shelbyville and David L. (wife, Jackie) Lawrence of Greenwood; brother, Kenneth (wife, Clara) Winkler of Shelbyville; grandchildren, Kirk Lawrence of McCordsville and Gia (husband, Bret) Bowers of Boise, Idaho; and great-grandchildren, Demi, Evan, Ryann and Ellie. She also was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Freda Tragesser and Katherine Anspaugh; and brothers, Norman Winkler and Emerson Winkler. Mrs. Lawrence graduated from Waldron High School and was a lifelong resident of Shelbyville. She formerly had worked at Eli Lilly and Co., retiring in 1985. Mrs. Lawrence was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, the ladies auxiliary at the church and the St. Joe Social Club. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St., with a rosary recited at 3:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 125 E. Broadway St., with Father Don A. Quinn officiating. Interment will be in St. Vincent DePaul Cemetery in Shelby County.
