Ralph G. Smith, 79
ZANESVILLE - Ralph G. Smith, 79, of Zanesville, died at 3:05 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2006, at the Genesis-Good Samaritan Hospital, after a lengthy illness.
He was born Sunday, July 10, 1927, in Woodsfield, the son of Clarence O. Smith Sr. and Clara A. Burkhart Smith. He was married to Agnes C. Izzo Smith on Saturday, June 20, 1953. He was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. Ralph attended St. Nicholas High School and Ohio University. He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict. He was a corporate accountant certified by the International Accountants Society and had been employed by the National Biscuit Co. and later the General Electric Corporation.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years; two daughters, Christine Ann (Thomas) Kenney of London, and Denise M. (Brent) Williams of Canton, Mich.; three sons, Paul D. (Lisa) Smith of Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif., Douglas A. (Kirsten) Smith of Asheville, N.C., and Philip E. Smith of Litchfield, S.C.; five grandchildren; two sisters, Mary E. Summers of Zanesville and Joann (Charles) Hohman of Granville; two brothers, Lloyd H. (Marguerite) Smith of Zanesville and the Rev. Father James T. Smith of Columbus; brothers-in-law, Richard (Mary) Rubadue, Charles F. Izzo, Joseph (Zita) Izzo and John Izzo; and sisters-in-law, Kathleen Smith and Jeanne Izzo.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Dorothy Mae Allbritain; four brothers, Harold H., Charles R. Clarence O. Jr. and Edward E. Smith; brothers-in-law, William C. Allbritain, Francis R. Summers and Donald Ritchey; and a sister-in-law, Sarah Jane Smith.
Calling hours will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 7, at the Hillis & Hardwick Funeral Home, 935 Forest Ave., where the Rosary will be recited at 7:45 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 8, 2006, at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, with Father Luke Turon officiating. Burial will be in Mount Olive Cemetery.
