Thomas Joseph Dennie, Sr., 87, longtime resident of Huntington, Ind., passed away Saturday, February 7, 2015, in Indianapolis, Ind.
Tom was born July 7, 1927, in Huntington, to John David Dennie and Magdeline (Eisenhauer) Dennie. He married Doris Ann Wonderly on April 18, 1949, and the couple was happily married 41 years before she passed away in 1991.
Tom was a graduate of Huntington High School and, after serving in the U.S. Navy during World War II, attended Butler College. He worked at Noll Printing in Huntington, retiring after more than 40 years, and was a life member of the Knights of Columbus. He was an active member of the Catholic community in Huntington, supporting St. Felix Friary, volunteering many hours doing accounting for St. Mary and serving generously in many ministries at SS. Peter and Paul.
Survivors include three sons: Thomas Joseph (Theresa) Dennie, Pensacola, Fla., William Michael Dennie, Las Vegas, Nev., and David Joseph (Eileen) Dennie, Indianapolis, Ind.; three daughters: Susan (Timothy) Gibble, Holden Beach, N.C., Sara (Jerry) Curry, Fishers, Ind., and Caroline (Terry) Spotts, Indianapolis, Ind.; eight grandchildren: Eric and Zachary Gibble, Michaela and Genevieve Miller, McKenzie and Thomas Spotts, and Jake and Molly Dennie; and one great granddaughter, Cora Nolan.
He was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Mary Susan Dennie; one brother, Dick Dennie; and one sister, Mary Lou Carnes.
Calling will be Saturday, February 14, 2015, from 8:45-10:00 a.m. at SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 860 Cherry Street St., Huntington, Ind., followed immediately with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated with Father Ron Reider, O.F.M., Cap.
Burial will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Huntington.
In lieu of flowers, preferred memorials are to Season’s Hospice Foundation, in care of McElhaney-Hart Funeral Home, 715 N. Jefferson Street, Huntington, IN 46750.
