Age 57, of Lapeer, April 19, 2006. Beloved husband of Barbara Niesen of Lapeer. Loving father of Amy Gentner, Mark Niesen, Jon Niesen and Katy Niesen. Jim is also survived by his parents Roy and Lucille Niesen of Flat Rock, two grandchildren and three brothers. Family will receive friends 3-8 p.m. Friday April 21, 2006 at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Lapeer, (810) 664-8111. Funeral service 11 a.m. Saturday at Trinity United Methodist Church, Lapeer.

NIESEN, James R. - Of Lapeer, age 57, died Wednesday, April 19, 2006 after an incredible 22 year fight with Multiple Myeloma. Funeral service 11AM Saturday, April 22, 2006 at Trinity Untied Methodist Church, Lapeer. Visitation 3-8PM Friday, April 21, 2006. Rev. Ralph Pieper, II. Burial Stiles Cemetery, Lapeer. James was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church. He was a systems analyst for Lapeer Regional Hospital. He had a Bachelors Degree from Michigan State University and was a member of the Alumni Association. He coached his children and others in different sports at the Lapeer Community Recreational Center, including little league and soccer. James was a soccer coach at Lapeer West, boys and girls for eleven years also, co-founding the West Side Soccer Club. He was a former President of the Lapeer West Band Boosters and a member for seventeen years. James was an artists, for 35 passionate years, and had been a member of the Lapeer Fine Arts Council. He currently has his art displayed at the St. John Providence Cancer Center in Novi. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son and brother. Surviving are: wife, Barbara Niesen of Lapeer; children, Amy (Kevin) Gentner of St. Johns, Mark (Jennifer) Niesen of Lake Orion, Jon (Lindsay) Niesen of Perry, Katy Niesen of Lapeer; grandchildren, Jimmy John and Lauren; parents, Roy and Lucille Niesen of Flat Rock; brothers, Wayne Niesen of Newport, Curt (Kathy) Niesen of New Boston, MI and Dale (Theresa) Niesen of South Rockwood, MI. Memorial contributions may be made to Lapeer Community Schools Scholarship Committee for a Lapeer West Scholarship.
